SecuDroid in depth

Whenever someone attemps to break into your phone by guessing your unlock code or pattern, SecuDroid will be watching!

Right after the third wrong attempt, SecuDroid will take a silent snapshot using the front facing camera, and will forward this picture along with the position either to the configured e-mail address or to the configured alert number as a Multimedia message.
After the third attempt, SecuDroid will keep taking snapshots at a maximum rate of one picture per minute in order to increase the chances to get the thief Busted!

• Request either GPS or coarse location remotelly. A textmessage to the number which requested the location or an e-mail to the configured address will be sent including a Google Maps link with accuracy and speed information
• Your device might be moving and you want to track it periodically. Just set a periodic tracking remotelly and wait for a Google Maps link to be sent to you through a textmessage or an e-mail! The GPS will be turned off when not used and, if there's not enough coverage to get a fix, you'll get the coarse location. Positions will include accuracy, speed and altitude
• Auto enable/disable of the GPS hardware (See notes)

Find out where your phone is or who holds it in his hands! The shutter sound will be disabled for maximum discretion (See notes)

You will be able to request a picture either from the front or back camera and, once compressed, it will be sent to you along with the location information in one of the following ways:

• As a Multimedia Message attachment (MMS)
• As an E-mail attachment to your e-mail address using the pre-configured GMail account

The information in your device might be more important than the phone itself. Keep it protected or erase it as soon as you realized that it might get compromised:

• Remote Lock Send an SMS with the lockcode and your phone will be locked within a few seconds!
• Remote Wipe Send an SMS and erase both your SD card and your device's internal storage by getting it to factory defaults. Please, note that this feature will erase SecuDroid as well and should only be requested to protect sensitive data

If the SIM card of your phone is changed, you will get a textmessage on up to two different phone numbers. This SMS will contain:

• The phone number of the thief's SIM card
• The IMSI code of the thief's SIM card
• The IMEI code of your own phone
With all this information you will be able to track the phone and report it to the mobile operator for blacklisting purposes

Can't you find your phone and it's in silence?

No problem! SecuDroid will set the volume to maximum level and start ringing for 60 seconds or until you find it! Afterwards it will stay unmuted so that you can call from another phone without having to send another SMS

SecuDroid will silently rest in your device until you request any of its cool features.

• No CPU or memory usage while not used. Therefore, it won't affect battery life
• The Launcher icon might be removed at any times from the configuration window. If somebody takes your phone off you, he won't know that SecuDroid is there
• The configuration window can be invoked by dialing a pre-configured number from the stock phone app

• Silent Shutter. The method used by SecuDroid is proven to work in most devices. However please check it out with yours because some manufacturers don't allow to turn the shutter sound off when taking a picture and you might need to disable it manually (removing sound file on a rooted phone?). Please, note that even with the shutter sound, a picture could be extremely useful in case of loss.
• Front Camera Selection. This feature will only be available from Android 2.3 on. If a front camera picture is requested to a device running a version below 2.3 or to a device with no front camera attached, the back camera will then be selected instead.
• Auto-enable GPS function. This feature might not work in new versions of Android due to Google restrictions which enforces the user to enable it manually if it's off. SecuDroid will try to enable it silently and if it doesn't succeed, a coarse position will be obtained instead (less accuracy). It's recommended to leave the GPS hardware on in your device given that it won't affect the battery life if no application requests location. SecuDroid will make an effective usage of the GPS thus not affecting battery life.
